Role of Advanced Nurse in Population or Community Health
I anticipate that the advanced nursing role in population or community health revolves around maximizing positive health outcomes for individuals and households. At this level, these professionals mainly target activities that impact more than one person. One example of a role carried out by advanced practice nurses in the community involves organizing health promotion campaigns. These campaigns are essential in educating community members on best health practices to promote positive health outcomes. Advanced practice nurses also play a critical role in assisting in the management of chronic illnesses. Chronic illnesses such as hypertension and diabetes mellitus type II have become common in modern communities. Advanced practice nurses play a crucial role in ensuring the wellbeing of individuals suffering from these illnesses at the community level (Heinen et al., 2019). In addition, these professionals may also play a role in influencing health policy at the community/ population level.
Positions and Work Arenas
Advanced public health nurses work in a variety of positions and work arenas. One of the areas that I imagine these professionals work in is public health institutions and agencies. The federal and state governments have departments of health. In these departments, there must be a wing that specifically deals with public health issues. These departments are one of the areas where advanced public health nurses are likely to work. Secondly, these professionals are likely to work in non-governmental organizations specializing in providing services to many people.
