In this module you have read about the leading causes of death as well as the need to identify and prioritize prevention and control efforts. You have also reviewed the three levels of prevention/continuum of prevention - Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary, and how they can be applied to disease control (communicable and noncommunicable diseases) . The readings also focused on modifiable and unmodifiable risk factors that must be considered in prevention efforts, along with

the role that communities and individuals can play in reducing risk factors that contribute to poor health, disease, injury, or death.

For this discussion forum, choose one of the following causes of death that have been associated with rising death rates over the past few years (2015 - 2022): Teen Drug Overdose OR Adult Opioid Overdose OR Adolescent and Young Adult Suicide (ages 10- 24).  Once you choose your topic, do a little research to find the most recent statistical information related to death rates for the cause you are focusing on as well as risk factors that are associated with this cause of death.
