First, AMC must change its organizational structure from a functional to a process-based model. Second, its understanding of the organizational unit concept should transform to respond to the healthcare needs of the metro Atlanta populations and manage relationships across specialties. The third recommendation for structure redesign includes AMC rethinking its utilization of resources, including equipment, beds, and operating rooms, and regulating them from a centralized logistical model to enhance efficiency (Fiorio et al., 2018).
