Sickle cell anemia is one of the diseases that is associated with extreme pain. As such patients will in most of the cases complain of pain which can be treated with pain killer medication. It is the duty of the registered nurses to make sore that they assist the patient with the right pain relieving interventions whether they chose pharmacological or non-pharmacological (Wilson & Nelson, 2015). This also means that the nurses have to ensure they have assessed the effectiveness of the said interventions. They also have to monitor for any adverse responses to the said interventions and advocate for the patient for different interventions when the ones applied do not prove effective (Wilson & Nelson, 2015).
