Properties of Atoms and Ions

Coursework Instructions:

Using the South University Online Library or the Internet, research any one element. On the basis of your research, provide:
An analysis of the properties of the neutral atom and its most common ion.
An explanation of the difference between stabilities of the selected neutral atom and its most common ion.
A descripton of a process in the human body that is impacted differently by the neutral atom and its most common ion.
Discussion Question 2
Using the South University Online Library or the Internet, research elements and compounds. On the basis of your research, respond to the following:
What are the differences between ionic and covalent compounds?
Describe two ways that covalent compounds are used in the human body.
How does the polarity of a molecule and a solvent impact solubility, and why might this be important?

As a result of having an equal amount of protons and electrons, neutral atoms have a charge balance ("Neutral Atom- Definition And Examples Of Neutral Atom Along With FAQS", 2022). A nice illustration of this is a hydrogen neutral atom. The atom makes up one atom. Hydronium or oxonium ion is its most prevalent ion. The atom is the family of chemical elements’ simplest member, it is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, combustible gaseous material (Contributor, 2018). It has a nucleus of positive electrical charge and one unit of negative electrical charge electron.
In terms of stability. Depending on several crucial conditions, hydrogen can be both stable and unstable at the same time. For instance, hydrogen is unstable chemically when it is present in its native state. This is because hydrogen has an unstable configuration. After all, it only has one electron at its lowest energy level. Since hydrogen is highly reactive, it frequently undergoes many reactions before settling on a stable electron configuration. In contrast, the hydronium ion is more stable than hydrogen atoms.
Based on the neutral atom and common ion we already described. Since the special solvent properties of water are a result of hydrogen bonding (Contributor, 2018). The folded proteins’ three-dimensional structure, such as enzymes and antibodies...
