Immunity Functions and Types
The system immunity toward a specific illness determines the intensity of the disease to an individual. According to Graves and Milovanova (2019), the combination of organs, cells, and proteins in the immune system help in the production of antibodies; intern fights the disease organs from multiplying and spreading to the entire body. Once a person's antibodies prevent the bacteria and virus from spreading, the person might not experience the symptoms, lowering the chances of exposing the illness to the environment (Graves & Milovanova, 2019). The illness will not spread to other people without exposing the organs to the environment.
Immunity is divided into two types. First, passive immunity is acquired when a person is given the antibodies instead of naturally producing them with their body system (Graves & Milovanova, 2019). For instance, an infant receives immunity from their mother through the placenta. Active immunity is the other type. The immunity is due to exposure to the disease, causing the immune system to produce antibodies. The immunity is divided into natural and vaccine-induced immunity.
