Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a nursing discipline regarded as the talk therapy for people with mental problems. The core objective is to help patients gain control of their illness and heal gradually (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). In this journal, I will be using interpersonal relations theory to guide me in psychotherapy activities. Nursing theories are fundamental since they help nurses stick to the objectives and enhance creativity in the medical field (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
Additionally, they guide nurses in the fieldwork. In this case, a nurse can provide substantive information on the topic area. Interpersonal relations theory deals with talk therapy which is essential in this particular practice. Most importantly, it will help me gain more experience in therapeutic issues. The main goal for counseling theories is to learn the hidden needs of patients. In this practice, I will be using integrative theory, which revolves around talking and evaluating patients’ thoughts and feelings (Wayne, 2021). Notably, integrative theory can be integrated with other theories, an added advantage to the practice.
Both interpersonal relations and integrative theories provide a broad platform to engage patients with mental illness (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Most of the time, mental disorders make patients violent or dull, and they feel alienated because no one can understand their needs. In this scenario, the combination of the two theories will have a positive impact on nursing practice.
