The article is titled “Effectiveness of a Web-Based Screening and Fully Automated Brief Motivational Intervention for Adolescent Substance Use: A Randomized Controlled Trial.” In the study, the authors acknowledge that the critical time of being initiated into alcohol use is in the middle to late adolescence. However, the rate of initiation can be reduced through motivational interventions. Through web-based interventions, individuals can enhance accessibility and acceptability to influence the reduction in substance use and abuse among students. The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of web-based brief motivational interventions without any face-to-face aspects (Arnaud et al., 2016). Further, the study utilized a randomized trial and sample of 16 to 18 years from Sweden, Belgium, the Czech Republic, and Germany. The study is also limited by a large drop-out rate, which was significant among group effects of alcohol use.
