Philosophy and poetry were fundamental to the artist and patron and song dynasty. First, Neo-Confucianism and Buddhism inspired the Song Dynasty's art, which was reflected in its art. Chinese artists such as Cheng Yi and Zhu Xi reintroduced Confucianism with new commentary mixed with Buddhist principles from India, emphasizing a new structure of ancient texts that brought forth the basic philosophy of Neo-Confucianism in the Song of Dynasty (Blanchard, 2018). During the Song dynasty, poet and statesman Su Shi and his companion Mi Fu had a significant impact on the development of literature. The popularity and growth of the dynasty song benefited poetry and literature. In this era, most of the artists were sponsored by patrons. In India, poets developed new forms of vernacular writing, which flourished during the Mughal courts. Mughal India's artists effectively transferred their patrons' enthusiasm into illustration, showing people, constructed structures, and nature, providing a visceral experience of Akbar's reign that goes beyond a verbal presentation of a famous story.
