CAUTI Prevention
Quality and performance initiatives result in significant changes in the healthcare sector. The initiatives seek to improve patients’ results, increase satisfaction and reduce treatment costs. Nurses play an important role in managing quality measures and creating a positive patient environment. Educating nurses on the proper usage and maintenance of IUC can reduce the rate of CAUTI in hospitals and acute care settings and improve patients’ outcomes. An evidence-based project depicted by CDC stipulates multiple guidelines such as proper insertion, maintenance, and removal of Foley catheters. Research has suggested that correctly applying the CDC guidelines can help nurses prevent CAUTI risks (CDC, 2019). I intend to improve by following the guidelines stipulated by CDC to ensure adequate protection against CAUTI.
