Bismuth Subsalicylate works by easing intestinal inflammation and killing germs in the intestines. Therefore, it is effective in combating Clostridium difficile colitis caused by the Clostridium difficile bacterium (André et al., 2021). The agent neutralizes Clostridium difficile by limiting the flow of electrolytes and liquids into the bowel. This inhibition creates unfavorable conditions for the bacteria to survive, leading to its destruction.
