Summary Case Memo to Management: Concise communication of complex issues to those who do not have your level of technical understanding is a critical management skill. This assignment requires you to analyze an ethical case, determine application to your organization, and communicate that information in a brief executive memo.
• Detailed Instructions:
For the purposes of this assignment, you will be in the position of Chief Ethics Officer within your organization. You will report on this case, and how your organization should apply it, in an executive memo to your board of directors. The memo must be structured so that the directors can immediately determine your conclusions/recommendations, and then review the more detailed analysis. The content of the memo must be written as a CRAC (Conclusion, Rule, Analysis, Conclusion):

o Conclusion/Executive Summary: Provide a 1-paragraph description of the situation and a summary of your overall conclusions about the lessons in this case for your organization.
o Rules: Briefly describe the ethical rules, principles, and concepts that should guide your organization in the situation.
o Analysis: Briefly describe how the rules apply to the facts of this case and to similar situations in your organization.
o Conclusion: Provide a complete conclusion, supported by your application of the rules to the situation.
• Format Expectations and Due Dates:
This assignment must be written in a traditional business memo format of no more than 2 pages, double spaced simple wording . Cite at least 3 scholarly sources other than course materials, both cited in-text and in a reference list (in current APA 7 format). You may use one of the memo templates widely available on the Internet, or a format from your own experience or organization, as long as the substantive content meets the requirements of the assignment.

1 Executive Summary
The case: To reduce costs and maximize profits, an international company has been offering inferior products in a developing country in Africa. Legally, these products are okay because they meet the safety and quality standards in that country. However, compared to similar products offered by the company in the American and European markets, the products offered in the African market are substandard. They would not meet the safety and quality standards in these developed markets. The public recently became aware of this, and the company has been experiencing a huge backlash on social media ever since.
We can learn from this situation that there are issues far greater than the law that companies need to consider while making decisions about safety and quality standards in an international setting. Ethical issues are as important as legal issues because unethical practices cause negative publicity and poor organizational reputation (Tamunomiebi & Orianzi, 2019).
2 Rules
As an international company, we have recently ventured into developing markets. We thus need to understand cases involving inferior products in such markets because the temptation to just do the bare minimum is there. However, as Ferell, Fraedrich, and Ferell (2021) revealed, international companies quickly realize that they cannot achieve long-term success by selling inferior products. The ethical rules and principles that should guide our organization in such a situation are integrity, accountability and transparency, trust, and equality and fairness for all our stakeholders regardless of their country of origin.
