Multimodal Text Set Exploring Issues of Race and Equity

Coursework Instructions:

Hi,
Design a multimodal text set with 7-10 texts that explore issues of race and equity. The goal is to create a text set that addresses elements of racial literacy that foster criticality about racism with K-12 students. You can use any platform or format to share your text set, but I recommend Adobe Spark or Voice Thread. For each book, include the following information:
-Image for each text (this could be a book cover, album jacket, or icon for podcast)
-Bibliographic information for each text in APA format
-Why this text? Write 3-4 sentences for each text that explains how the text addresses issues of race and equity in ways that foster racial literacy.
-Write 1 question for each text that you would ask students to think about regarding how race and equity are presented in the text.
-Design a response project for students that will support the examination of race and equity across the text set.
Book selection websites(have to pick from these two websites):

I have also attached examples from my peers' work. Do not copy! Thank you!

Bibliographic Information: Kates, B. (2017). We're Different, We're the Same (Sesame Street). Random House Books for Young Readers.
Summary: This book by Kates teaches children how to accept each other’s differences. By using characters from the television show Sesame Street, the author uses words and illustrations to show how despite all the outward differences, we are all the same. The book also illustrates to young readers that differences don’t need to be a bad thing and that rather than seeing differences as bad, see how they make the world such a colorful and beautiful place.
Question: Should differences make us hate each other, or do they add beauty to the world?
Activities: Create groups in class and ask each group to discuss and present their outcome on how differences bring beauty to the world.
Bibliographic Information: Bush, E. (2014). Separate Is Never Equal: Sylvia Mendez & Her Family's Fight for Desegregation by Duncan Tonatiuh. Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books, 67(11), 600-601.
Summary: This book tells the real-life story of the Mendez family, which after moving to a new neighborhood in Westminster, California, were excited about their new life in the town. However, Sylvia and her brother are shocked when they try to enroll at the neighborhood school, only to be turned away and asked to go enroll at a Mexican school. It tells the story of how Sylvia and her family fought for desegregation at a time when it was still rampant across the United States schooling system and won.
Question: What are the consequences of segregation by race within a multiracial community?
Activities: Ask the class to prepare discussion points to determine how segregation impacts the unity of the society, and how desegregation has improved the lives of all citizens in the country.
Bibliographic Information: Hopkinson, D. (2020). Carter reads the newspaper. Holiday House.
Summary: This book is also a real-life story of Carter G. Woodson. As a child of two former slaves, Woodson had a deep interest in reading, and he got the opportunity to utilize his reading skills by reading newspapers to his father. When he worked at a coal mine as a teenager, he continued reading newspapers to his fellow workers. Through this habit and researching and studying other historical facts, Carter became a successful black man and the father of Black History Month.
Question: Are there other unknown heroes from other races who have accomplished something for their communities and mankind as a whole?
Activities: Using discussion groups, ask each group to research pe...
