Please read "Essentials of Educational Psychology: Big Ideas to Guide Effective Teaching (5th Edition)" Chapter 3-5 and 7 and answer the following questions. Each question should be 100 words minimum and should all have the resources cited.1.Describe the difference between negative reinforcement and punishment. Provide an example of each to illustrate and then describe how positive reinforcement might have changed the outcome.Negative reinforcements is the act influencing a behavior to veer away from a negative result. It means that a response is reinforced within an individual as a means to avoid an unpleasant experience. An example of this is by a teacher promising to eliminate homework, if students will be active in recitation.
Punishments on the other hand are actions that are done in order to inflict a negative stimulus to a subject. An example of this is being physically hit by a parent, when a child has done something wrong. In this way, punishment is used to teach a child that doing something bad should not be repeated, and avoided. 2.A student in your class named Joy struggles with utilizing effective study skills. Describe two different strategies that you will share with Joy so that she can study and learn more effectively. The first strategy is face to face interaction. Some students are motivated by the presence and guidance of a teacher. When left alone, Joy might not have the confidence to do her activities in school, but by the guidance of a teacher, she can advance step by step. If a student feels the support and the encouraging presence of a true educator, she can be inspired to do better in studying.
Another strategy is creating a schedule and time management table for studying. It is important to balance one’s energy output with effort. Studying takes a lot of mental energy, which is why it is important to create effective studying habits through an organized schedule. A time table will greatly help a student to have the means monitor their activity and create more focus for productivity.
3.As a student, do you sometimes find yourself forgetting to do something because you did not give yourself a retrieval cue? Which of the recommendations presented in the assigned readings should minimize the likelihood of retrieval failure? Reconstruction error? Interference? Decay? Failure to store? The creation of a retrieval cue is a valuable practice that can make us more mindful of our decisions in life. In the readings, they discussed retrieval cues as a strategy to help create memory connections so that it can be easily remembered.
