I watched the commentary video of Dr. Gamache. I observed that 80% of Americans only speak one English. America is a melting pot with various languages in use. In my hometown of Downey, there are many Spanish and Cuban speakers. My daughter works at a restaurant; she also observed the people who speak different languages. When people spoke to her, it was always in Spanish. Most people attempt to communicate with my daughter in Spanish, but she informs them that she does not speak the language. Interestingly, almost 80% of Americans only speak one language. Does it is 80% of Americans only speak one language? You make me think so hard.
Furthermore, I liked Dr. Gamache's explanation of "Melting Pot vs. Salad Bowl." The melting pot is an older tradition in the United States of America, which was the generation of immigrants melting together. Salad Bowl is new to me but mixed with culture? I have no idea about the Salad Bowl. My grandmother and great aunt, who fled Wales and immigrated to the United States in their 30s, now have a heavy Welsh accent and never learned how to speak or write American English because the Welsh language was all they knew. To date, they still speak Welsh.

I agree with you about the different cultures and languages. For example, my daughter has CODA- French, English, and Sign Language.
