Film Study: Genre, Documentary, and Experimental Films Questions

Please assign writers with film study background. This is coursework strongly related to film study, including genre, documentary, and experimental films.
The task is to complete a set of questions I provided in the word. Each question only need a couple sentences but a paragraph, but they need knowledge background. I'll provide materials if needed.

Directions, read before proceeding: the following sections ask you to answer analytical questions about hypothetical narrative, documentary, and experimental films that you brainstorm. Keep the differences you’ve laid out here in mind as you go through each section.

These are not essay questions. Answer the questions concisely (but fully) and then proceed onward. Don’t need to write too many words.  

For your brainstormed film ideas, you aren’t going to be graded on originality or quality. However, I do want to see a link between your ideas for the three films. **For example, if you had an idea for a narrative fiction film about a young woman painter in the 1770s who has to secretly paint the portrait of another young woman who is resisting an arranged marriage (like Céline Sciamma’s Portrait of a Lady on Fire), you might propose a documentary that will investigate unknown women painters of that period and an experimental film that uses playful sound and camerawork to transform still images from paintings to provoke the viewer to rethink assumptions about stillness and movement in paintings. 

Please answer all questions and if you don’t know anything from the question, Google it. If you answers are way off track, I will request rewrite multiple times until they are legit. So please spend some effort on it.

Part 2: Genre and Narrative Film (30 points total)

Brainstorm a basic idea for a new comedy genre narrative fiction film in this genre. You don’t need to write down your brainstorm on this exam. Briefly answer the following question in your own words.

1. What is the basic concept for your new narrative film? Please write no more than
   2 sentences. I really only want a very basic idea for the film. If you’re unsure how to summarize a film concept, try writing out the basic who, what, where, when, why, and how.
   (1 point)

1. What genre will it be? (2 points)

1. How does your idea relate to each of the three main traits of the comedy ? (5 points per trait, 15 points total)

(Three main traits: 

- central characters who often are defined by distinctive physical features, such as body shape and size, costuming, or manner of speaking  

- narratives that emphasize episodes or “gags” more than plot continuity or progression and that usually conclude happily  

- theatrical acting styles in which characters physically and playfully interact with the mise-en-scène that surrounds them) 

1. How does your idea relate to the three main subgenres, which are Slapstick comedies, Screwball Comedies, and Romantic Comedies?
   (4 points per subgenre, 12 points total)

Part 3: Documentary Film (18 points total) 

Brainstorm a basic idea for a documentary film that could be loosely connected in some way to the film you created in the last question. You don’t need to write down your brainstorm on this exam. Briefly answer the following question in your own words.

1. What is the basic concept for your new documentary film? Please write no more than
   2 sentences. (1 point)

1. What is one of the main arguments your documentary film will make about the world?
   (2 point)

1. How will your documentary film draw on two of the six documentary modes? (Expository, observational, interactive, reflexive, performative, and reconstructive. Your hypothetical documentary may draw on more modes but you only need to talk about two.) Be sure to define the mode as you explain how you will draw on it. (5 points per mode, 10 points total)

1. Discuss how the purpose (function) and organization of your documentary film are different from your previous comedy narrative fiction film. (5 points)

Part 4: Experimental Film (16 points total) 

Brainstorm a basic idea for an experimental film that could be loosely connected in some way to your proposed narrative fiction film and documentary in the last two questions. You don’t need to write down your brainstorm on this exam. Briefly answer the following question in your own words.

10.  What is the basic concept for your new experimental film? You may need to write a bit more to explain this than the other films, but please write no more than 4 sentences. (1 point)

11.  How will your experimental film rely on two of the following: 1) associations viewers can make between images, whether metaphorical, symbolic, or emotional, 2) formal elements (the material of the film itself and its capabilities; repetition or contrast; editing rhythm), and/or 3) viewer participation? (5 points per, 10 points total)

12.  How are the purpose (function) and organization of your experimental film different from your narrative fiction film AND your documentary? (5 points)
