The coffee business has become one of the most attractive businesses globally in recent decades, and Starbucks Coffee Company is one of the most popular players in the industry. The success of Starbucks in the coffee business globally, currently owning over 30,000 retail stores across 83 markets, can be attributed to a wide range of values offered by the company and the transformational leadership instilled by the company’s founder, Howard Schultz (Starbucks, 2019). The company’s mission statement alone, “to inspire and nurture the human spirit,” gives the impression that it has a greater plan apart from making great coffee, an attribute typical of a transformational company. The most outstanding values from the company include diversity and ambitiousness depicted by the wide range of coffee products it has and the great deal of ambition to expand the market segment and achieve sustainability. Courage and commitment are the other values familiar to the company, portrayed by its urge to reach as vast a market as possible and deliver the best products to the consumers.
