During this course, you will create a company profile. You will begin this project in this unit, and new sections will be added in Units II, III, V, and VII. For this first section, you will select a company, describe it, and develop a report on the social responsibility efforts of that company.
The paper should give a background of your selected company (fast facts). For example, what is the name of the company, what does it produce, how big is it, and where is it located?
In addition, include an overview of the corporate social initiatives of the firm. Sources of information for this component are an annual report of the firm available at the website of the company. Be sure to do the following things in your overview:
Illustrate the concept and application of social responsibility.
Explain the benefits of social responsibility.
Apply the four Is of the nonmarket environment to your selected company.
Identify the nonmarket influences on your chosen company.
Describe the impact of nonmarket action on your company.
Your paper should be a minimum of three pages in length, and you should use at least two academic sources. All sources used must be cited and referenced in APA format. You should also format your paper in APA style to include a title page and reference page.source..
PepsiCo Inc. is a leading and one of the most famous foods and beverage companies in the world. It is mainly responsible for manufacturing and distributing high-quality products in over 200 countries worldwide. Food products that PepsiCo prepares are flavored snacks, chips, cereals, dairy products, pasta, and rice. The company's best beverage products are juices, carbonated soft drinks, ready-to-use coffee and tea, bottled water, sports drinks and energy drinks. With its headquarters in Purchase, New York, PepsiCo has employed over 272,000 people all over the world (Luo, 2000).
The company was founded in 1965 with the merger of Frito-Lay Inc. and Pepsi-Cola Company. Initially, PepsiCo manufactured only Mountain Dew, Pepsi-Cola, Fritos corn chips and Diet Pepsi. It expanded its network with time acquired Tropicana and Quaker Oats in 1998 and 2001 respectively. As of January 2016, over 20 brands of PepsiCo successfully generated more than $1.2 billion revenues in just a few months. Today, PepsiCo is the largest food and beverage company, followed by Coca-Cola (Dijk, 2008).
It is best known for its diversified business model and top-quality products that are sold at affordable prices worldwide. In a scenario where people have started avoiding carbonated soft drinks due to their side effects, PepsiCo has maintained its reputation in the snack food category by providing its consumers with what is best and health-friendly. The presence of this category in business allows PepsiCo to enter into complementary categories. For example, the company can easily leverage its beverage business in all emerging markets to develop its business of snacks (2013).
Talking about its social responsibilities, we must admit that PepsiCo food and beverage products are appreciated and enjoyed by millions of consumers worldwide. The company takes the responsibility of maintaining the quality of its food and beverage items and does not opt for illegal ways to manufacture or market them. The vision of PepsiCo is to deliver quality over the long term by implementing new strategies and paying more attention to quality than quantity, leaving a positive impact on the society and the environment (Luo, 2000).
All these things have allowed PepsiCo to enjoy huge success and receive appreciations from its customers in over 160 territories and countries worldwide.
