NTT Communications, the fourth-biggest telecom company globally, supports and powers data centers in more than twenty countries. Recently, the company experienced a data breach characterized by a significant deal of planning as well as multiple attack fronts. The critical infrastructure attack leaked the information of 621 corporate customers. The data breach was typically hybrid in that it was executed both on-site and from the cloud. NTT believes artificial intelligence and machine learning, coupled with multi-level attack domains, were executed during the breach. The breach emanated from different external, network-linked websites anchored on a security flaw within the operation server embedded into the infrastructure’s information management server.
