The purpose of this advertisement is to sell yoghurt to a consumer. The intended audience would be a teenage or younger adult who enjoys yoghurt. The advertisement contains an image of the yoghurt it is intending to sell. The advertisement uses words such as dad and siblings which would make me assume its appealing to a teenager or young adult audience who wouldn’t have anymore siblings at this point.
2 Who do you think has paid for or sponsored this message? Why?
I believe the makers of Noosa Yoghurt has paid for or sponsored this message because it’s their brand being advertised.
3 What is the “overt” message? (What do we actually see, including the words and images?)
The overt message in this advertisement is that blueberry flavoured Noosa yoghurt is really smooth, all natural, gluten free, contains probiotics and is from happy cows never treated with added hormones.
4 What is the “implied” message? (What do you think is the hidden or unstated meaning?)
The implied message is that this yoghurt is far superior in regards to its smooth texture over its leading competitor yoghurts.
5 How might someone other than the intended audience react? Explain your answer.
I believe that someone other than its intended audience may find this offensive or won’t understand the text related to the ad. If the audience was a child, they wouldn’t understand the humour behind the text contained in the advertisement.
