Leadership Philosophy Statement
My leadership philosophy statement is that “leadership is all about being authentic, self-aware, and genuine.” As an authentic leader, I freely admit when I make mistakes and find avenues to learn from these mistakes (Meyer-Cuno, 2021). The leadership philosophy support empathy and humility as traits of an effective leader (Valmiki, 2019). This implies that I am inclined to comprehend the human aspects of my teams, including their diverse backgrounds. In addition, conscious leaders are passionate, self-aware, and authentic (Mackey & Sisodia, 2014). My authentic leadership philosophy supports conscious and effective leadership constructs of showing integrity and honesty, skills and abilities, confidence, passion and commitment, empathy, humility, transparency, teamwork, and emotional intelligence (Kapur, 2020). It is increasingly essential for authentic leaders to be well-informed in terms of the traits mentioned above.
Supportive followership is crucial in encouraging the leader to take full responsibility for their actions, including acting professionally. Supportive followers challenge and support their leader. In that vein, supportive followership influences my authentic leadership style since the followers use independent judgment to evaluate the quality of my leadership decisions, consider implied tasks, and recommend ideas to enhance my self-awareness (Giardino, 2019).
