Even to the professionals, the process of managing projects is not as easy as one would assume, as it involves a lot of complex processes due to the large number of persons involved and technicalities that arise alongside complications, which can pop up at any point of the project phase stalling billions of dollars in the ground. When electing water or sanitation projects, one is required to oversee the teams, manage the budget, sign contracts with the architects and the contactors, communicate with the public, liaise with the relevant authorities for permits and licences among others. Faced with these difficulties, most clients come to the professionals to consult on the way forward and avoid draw backs that could cost them precious time and lots of money.
It is at the implementation stage that the various plans and objectives come to life as they are actualized. When choosing the right procurement model to use in the museum project it is crucial that the model is assesses along the value for money, risks of the said model, the core objectives of the project, cultural factors, the constrains expected, the capacity of the committee that has been appointed to handle the model requirement and the operational services from the project alongside the benefits of the model. It is also required of the committee to have knowledge of clear objectives, market knowledge and negotiation skills as well as robust arrangement protocols. While the traditional or conventional procurement model is much more accurate and reasonable as these cost are estimated at the onset and adjusted accordingly leading to lower risks, it also lead to lags in the project completion. The other model under consideration id=s the design and build procurement model, which lets the contractor have a go at both the constructions works and the design within the agreed upon price. While this model may also reduce the costs and the time-frame the committee may not have the desired control over the designs. The most effective model in this case is therefore the management procurement model, which gives the committee that control over the designs and the contractor is left to manage the construction works performance under trade contracts that are separate. Other that the designs, the committee will also have the mandate to organise for the project drawings and control the cost plans. However the costs can highly inflate and there is need for the knowledge of developing good in-house relations with the contractors. Timeframe can also be reduced considerably with proper management.
