525- 700-word paper on sickle cell anemia. Include the following in your paper:
Summarize the Chromosomal Theory of Inheritance and how (Sickle-cell anemia) chromosomal abnormalities can lead to genetic disorders.
• Describe the relationship between chromosomes and DNA.
• Identify an example of a genetic disorder and describe the genetic disorder including symptoms, impact on quality of life, and life expectancy. How common is this disorder? Does it run in specific ethnic bloodlines?

Sickle -cell Anemia
Sickle-cell Anemia is an inheritable blood disorder that affects the red blood cells (Maakaron & Besa, 2013). This paper will elaborate the chromosomal theory of inheritance‚ and how chromosomal abnormalities of the sickle- cell Anemia can result to genetic disorders. The relationship between DNA and chromosome will be described. An example of a genetic disorder will be discussed in detail too.
Chromosomal Theory of Inheritance
The Chromosome theory of inheritance states that individual genes are obtained at certain unique locations on specific chromosomes and that same chromosomes’ behavior can elaborate why genes are inherited according to laws of Mendel during the process of meiosis (Amberger, et al., 2015). The observations that support the chromosome theory of inheritance include Mendel’s genes, Chromosomes coming in homologous pairs in a new organism, during meiosis‚ the members of marched pair separate, and the members of different pairs of chromosomes are sorted independently during the process of meiosis into gametes of one another. Geneticist Thomas Hunt Morgan and his students confirmed the theory through the study of the genetics of fruit flies (Amberger et al., 2015).
How Sickle-cell Chromosomal Abnormalities Can Result in Genetic Disorders
Sickle-cell anemia is a blood related disease or disorder that often affects the hemoglobin molecule. The specific genes often linked with sickle-cell disease control the production of hemoglobin. The red blood cells always assume a sickle- shape, which makes them die prematurely‚ and can result in other serious medical complications. Those born with sickle-cell anemia often inherit the disorder from both parents who have the gene with the defect. Some situations render a fraction of the people as carriers of sickle-cell trait (Maakaron & Besa, 2013).
The Relationship between DNA and Chromosomes
The DNA refers to a chemical that makes genes and chromosomes. It comprises of four simple chemical units often abbreviated as A‚ T‚ G‚ and C. The given letters always form a three letter word that the cells can easily read. A chromosome is just a long piece of the DNA which cells can copy with ease (Waddington, 2016).
