The female copperhead snakes are commonly seen in North America also referred to as Argkistrodon Contrortrix. These snakes have the ability to reproduce both sexually and asexually and therefore disclaiming the belief that asexual reproduction can only take place in invertebrates. They are most likely to bite though their poison is moderately mild and their bites are hardly lethal to human.
Asexual reproduction is a process where living organisms give rise to an offspring without fusion of gametes. The copperhead snakes do not always need a partner to reproduce. Such a situation is known as parthenogenesis which is as a result of an embryo developing from an unfertilized egg cell. Female copper heads that reproduce asexually are clone of mothers which is based on the two ovaries and the absence of testes, this elevates the homozygosity level of the offspring.
