Understanding the various aspects in the presentation of an image of an art piece is important for any viewer. It allows them to have a better appreciation of its overall elements in line with the context over which it was created. In line with this, I believe that I prefer the Dageurrotype of Woman Holding a Cat rather than the Hopi Girl and Jar both in terms of aesthetics and emotional appeal.
On the one hand, the daguerreotype provides a more favorable aesthetic appeal than the Hopi girl. This is perhaps because of the addition of a frame, which creates a more realistic portrait of a human being. In fact, similar to the discussion of Verplanck (2017), I realized that the addition of a frame creates a cultural aesthetic.
