Every organization has a duty to protect the interest of the society. Corporate social responsibility is the unending obligation of an organization to work morally and contribute to monetary growth while refining the value of life of the staff, their families and the local society and the community at large (Holme and Watts 1). Starbucks stresses on moral sourcing, ecological stewardship and civic participation
Several programs have been advocated for towards strengthening communities. The programs include donating food, community service, creating a culture of inclusion, empowering humanity and promoting pay equality among others (Starbucks 20). Starbucks emphasizes on ethical sourcing, environmental stewardship and community involvement. To that effect, the company established the Starbucks foundation in 1997. The company has a foundation that impacts the worldwide society by progressing chances for veterans, youths, farmers and their families, assisting calamity infested communities and encouraging local engagement. The report explains how in 2017 the foundation supported more than 25,000 refugees, youths, veterans, military spouses in learning the job and management skills that connect them to employment (Starbucks 20). The foundation has continued investing in tea, coffee and cocoa planting communities with a focus on empowering women and families.
In the past years, Starbucks acted quickly in providing help to neighbors who were affected by disaster. For example, when hurricanes, earthquakes and wildfires occurred, they joined with nonprofit partners to mobilize immediate relief and long-term reconstruction efforts. In Seattle and King County, the Starbucks foundation has contributed in providing stable housing and emergency shelters. In connection to their mission and values of treating their customers and communities with respect and dignity, they employ on equal opportunity.
