Each task will also be evaluated against the CMI Learning Objectives.

Task 1

You should consider the project management tools, techniques and processes discussed during the module and outline your understanding and evaluation of:

•        The role of projects in delivering organisational strategy.

•        The process for initiating, planning, and managing projects.

Task 2

Critically review whether the project management tools, techniques and processes discussed during the module have been followed in your chosen case study project.

What risk? Where? Who? When? Why? How effectively the risk was management?

If managed effectively then how? and what impact this had on the project.

If not managed effectively then what happened? where? Who? Why? how could they have managed more effectively and how? and what impact this had on the project.

Task 3

Finally, with reference to your chosen case study project, outline which factors contributed to effective project management and which were absent. You should also make recommendations for similar projects in the future.

Your Chosen case study Projects

Reflective Case Study Report: 2022 Qatar's World Cup Stadiums
Task 1
Introduction
The construction of the 2022 Qatar World Cup stadiums was a project that was initiated after Qatar was selected to host the 2022 World Cup. Qatar was selected to host the World Cup in 2010, where they had shown their interest and ability to ensure that the World Cup resources would be available. In fact, even before the confirmation that Qatar would host the 2022 World Cup, Qatar had already made a proposal to construct the first five stadiums (Al-Dosari, 2020). After the confirmation that the 2022 World Cup would be hosted in Qatar, the stadiums that would be constructed and improved were Lusail Stadium, Al Bayt Stadium, Al Janoub Stadium, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Education City Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium and Stadium 974. The stadiums were constructed all across Qatar's towns and cities to help manage crowding. The stadium construction and improvement cost was estimated at two hundred and twenty billion US dollars, which made the 2022 World Cup the most highly invested World Cup to happen in history. The stadiums began construction in 2010, and they were completed in the years 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 (Al-Emadi et al., 2022). Qatar had only one stadium prior to the 2022 World Cup plans, the Khalifa International Stadium, which was opened in 1976 but required improvements for the 2022 World Cup. Among the stakeholders that played a key role in the construction of the stadiums were the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), the Qatar Football Association, the Qatar government, the Qatar local community, sponsors, and focus groups (Morales And Sykes, 2019). These stakeholders helped in enhancing a successful project that saw the timely and quality completion of all eight stadiums.
Developing a reflection on the 2022 World Cup stadium construction helped create an understanding of how the project was managed. The stadiums were crucial in ensuring that the World Cup was effectively hosted, where professional and structured approaches to managing the project were engaged. The project case study reflection helps in enhancing an understanding of how the stakeholders involved in the stadium's construction project were effectively coordinated and played their roles in ensuring that the project was successfully completed. Aspects of governance and monitoring will also be evaluated in the project reflection, which will help identify how the project management environment played a role in the successful construction of the 2022 World Cup Stadiums. Therefore, the project case study refl...
