My company’s choice is Apple Inc. I chose this technology company since it has positively impacted the lives of many people worldwide by producing various electronic devices to enable users to work effectively and efficiently. Apple Inc. amazes me due to the quality and user-friendliness of the software and hardware it manufactures (Leswing, 2023). Apple Inc. was established by Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs in 1976. The company started in Jobs’ garage. Indeed, it manufactures computers, smartphones, accessories, wearables, and tablets. Some products include Apple Watch, iPod, AirPods, iPhone, HomePod, Mac, iPad, and Apple TV among other electronic devices. Although Apple Inc. has encountered numerous challenges, it remains one of the most profitable technology companies in the world.
According to Apple Inc.’s chief executive officer (CEO), Tim Cook, despite the company’s decline in revenues from its hardware products, including Mac, iPad, and iPhone, the corporation generated more profits from the growth of its services. The service division includes Apple Pay, subscriptions, licensing fees, and warranties. For instance, in the quarter that ended in June 2023, the company’s services grew from 5.5% to 8%, which comprised sales of about $21.2 billion (Leswing, 2023). Apple Inc. is optimistic that the services it provides for its customers will make it even more profitable in the short and long run. Some of them are AppleCare, digital content, advertising, payment, and cloud services. Apple Inc. said that its subscribers for digital services doubled within the last three years. For instance, Cook asserted that broadcasting Major League Soccer on Apple TV was a huge boost, which exceeded the firm’s expectations (Leswing, 2023).
In addition, the company reported that the number of paying subscribers for its digital services increased in the last quarter surpassing 1 billion users globally (McGee, 2023). Notably, the service division is vital for the company since it strengthens its ecosystem and increases Apple Inc.’s revenues and profit margin. Apple Inc.’s net profit increased to $19.9 billion by 2.3% and the earnings per share exceeded the company’s expectations by rising by 5% to $1.26 (McGee, 2023). The interesting thing was that Apple Inc. did not make much of its profits from hardware, such as the iPad and iPhone, as it is used. The firm’s service division, including digital offering, iCloud, Apple Music, and Apple Store sales increased by 8% and recorded a high of about $21.2 billion. Besides, subscribers for digital services increased by 150 million (McGee, 2023). Currently, Apple Inc. has twice as many subscribers compared to Netflix, Peloton, HBO, and Disney combined.
