For this assignment, you will review four case studies, one from Chapter 9, one from Chapter 10, one from Chapter 11, and one from Chapter 12. Then, you will evaluate the studies and respond to each of the questions below, using both critical thinking and theory as well as supporting documentation.
In Chapter 9, read the case study ”Soma Bay Prospers with ERP in the Cloud” on pages 345–346 of the textbook. Then, address the prompts below.
Describe the problem that Soma Bay encountered in this case study.
Why was an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system needed to solve the problem?
What are some challenges that this ERP system poses?
Will this ERP system help the company achieve operational excellence? Why, or why not?
In Chapter 10, read the case study “A Nasty Ending for Nasty Gal” on pages 414–416 of the textbook. Then, answer the questions below.
Was it a good idea to use social media as a marketing and social tool for Nasty Gal? Why, or why not?

In Chapter 11, read the case study “Can Cars Drive Themselves–And Should They?” on pages 453–455 of the textbook. Then, address the prompts below.

Problem Soma Bay faced
The critical problem that Soma Bay faced was the flooded data center. The case study shows that the upper levels impacted the company's data center. However, the IT professionals of the company retrieved the data for successful business operation. Therefore, the employees' time wastage caused problems in spreadsheets and increased human error.
ERP
The ERP was needed to resolve the problem due to the increased data issues. The company needed ERP due to the increased volume of data which limited which excel data could not successfully sustain. An ERP is also necessary for financial operations, and ERP promotes efficiency in leveraging a suite of integrated applications (Monk & Wagner, 2012). Therefore, it is needed for automation of financial applications and to reduce human errors.
ERP Challenges
The key challenge of the ERP is a huge volume of data. Data volume is still a threat regardless of efficient operations and automation using ERP since it may lower its efficiency. The other challenge would be creating instant reports and cost tracking due to delays from huge data. Therefore, regardless of the effectiveness of ERP, it would still experience some challenges.
ERP and Operational Excellence
The ERP will assist the company in achieving excellence since the major issue comes from an excess volume of data and human errors, which inhibit operational excellence. However, with the data, it would be to reduce such errors. A cloud-based ERP system is critical and would enhance operational excellence since it would retrieve and store data regardless of damages caused by the flood.
Chapter 10: Nasty Gal
Social Media as a Marketing Tool
It was a good idea for Nasty to consider social media in marketing. Social media is a reliable platform for enhancing business growth. According to Felix et al. (2017), social media strategy plays a significant role in allowing the company to easily penetrate the market. Nasty gal business model allowed to easily sell the vintage items. For instance, Amoruso depended on the social media mode in successfully targeting the customers. The e-bay store also successfully allowed her to use the social media model by integrating key promotional strategies. The social media model allowed Amoruso to dedicate herself by taking photos and promoting the business leading to profitability at the initial stage of the business. Considering different social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter allowed her to attract more customers through her followers. Therefore, it was good to use the business model since it made her successfully meet her targeted sales. Social media is effective for vintage businesses such as Nasty Gal since more customers are online and can easily access the company's website and buy products. Consequently, the idea was appropriate to enhance customer loyalty.
