Ahmet Green, the director of Eastern Oceanography Institute (EOI), appointed Garth Hudson as the director of information services (IS) based on their previous relationship. Green and Garth worked together to customize a research project database at the Eastern State University (ESU) (Larson & Gray, 2021). In that light, if I was Garth, I should tell the director that I would be ready to comply with what the majority of directors at the EOI wanted. However, the little time that the director gave Garth to prove that he was essential for the organization was all that the IS director needed to list down things he had done for the company. Although the associate directors might not have seen Garth’s contributions to EOI, he did what was best for the firm. Garth should not try to prove to himself and the director that he was the right person to remain at EOI. Already, he played his roles well despite not spending enough time to interact with his colleagues informally, mainly during the lunch break.

The first mistake that Garth did was to have limited contact with the staff. After the IS director introduced himself to various staff groups at EOI, he spent most of the time learning about the firm’s IS.
