Introduction
Flexibility in work arrangements is the top consideration for employees and employers because it affects how, where, and when specific tasks are completed. According to Bell (2021), work/life balance has emerged as the primary consideration for jobseekers in New Zealand, surpassing employment benefits and salary for the first time. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the hybrid work style was a privilege extended to top-performing or long-standing employees as a token of appreciation from business organizations for their dedication and recognition. However, in the present-day context, there is a growing demand for hybrid working preferences among employees who have demonstrated effective task performance in remote settings (Bell, 2021). I have been assigned to examine the human resource management (HRM) challenges confronting A.C. Accounting, a well-established professional accounting firm in South Auckland. As a trusted consultant in human resource issues, I bring a wealth of experience and strategic planning to help A.C. Accounting move forward. The firm is currently facing challenges in attracting talented staff from the graduates of the Gen Z group. At the same time, the firm must only hire employees who can balance professional commitments and personal and family responsibilities (Gagne et al., 2022). This shift in work dynamics necessitates a closer examination of HR planning, recruitment, and selection processes to align them with the evolving expectations of employees.
