"Dozens Killed When Gasoline Truck Explodes in Northern Haiti" by Pierre-Richard Luxama and Evens Sanon depicts how a gasoline tanker exploded after it lost control and overturned in Cap-Haitien, Haiti. The tanker caused a fire that burnt businesses and homes, killing over 60 individuals (Luxama & Sanon, 2021). Although Cap-Haitien is the second-largest city on the northern coast, it did not have enough resources to contain the situation. Firefighters covered and collected the victims' bodies and loaded them to a construction truck. Based on Mass Casualty Incident Management, the number of casualties in the Cap-Haitien event exceeded the resources available.
I would organize the event’s Incident Command System (ICS) chart by starting with the resources and professionals required to help the victims. They include the medical supplies, emergency medical services, physicians, ground support, food supplies, and the resource team (FEMA, 2018). In particular, gathering the above resources can be challenging in a city with limited assistance from the government.
