Symptoms of STDs, PID, Prostatitis, ITP, and the Kinds of Anemia

Case Study Instructions:

An understanding of the factors surrounding women’s and men’s health, infections, and hematologic disorders can be critically important to disease diagnosis and treatment in these areas. This importance is magnified by the fact that some diseases and disorders manifest differently based on the sex of the patient.
Effective disease analysis often requires an understanding that goes beyond the human systems involved. The impact of patient characteristics, as well as racial and ethnic variables, can also have an important impact..
An understanding of the symptoms of alterations in systems based on these characteristics is a critical step in diagnosis and treatment of many diseases. For APRNs, this understanding can also help educate patients and guide them through their treatment plans.
In this Assignment, you examine a case study and analyze the symptoms presented. You identify the elements that may be factors in the diagnosis, and you explain the implications to patient health.
To prepare:
Assignment (1- to 2-page case study analysis)
In your Case Study Analysis related to the scenario provided, explain the following as it applies to the scenario you were provided (not all may apply to each scenario):
The factors that affect fertility (STDs).
Why inflammatory markers rise in STD/PID.
Why prostatitis and infection happens. Also explain the causes of systemic reaction.
Why a patient would need a splenectomy after a diagnosis of ITP.
Anemia and the different kinds of anemia (i.e., micro and macrocytic).

Factors Affecting Fertility (STDs)
Several factors influence fertility. They include one's lifestyle, age, use of drugs (both over-the-counter and prescription), and the time when sex is done. Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are the significant factors that affect fertility in this case. There are different types of STDs that affect fertility. For instance, studies have shown that trichomoniasis and gonorrhea damage the fallopian tube (Smolarczyk et al., 2021). Other STDs may be observed presenting, like pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), which affects the reproductive organs in females. PID has been linked to tubal factor infertility, proving that STDs are integral in causing infertility.
Reasons for the Rise in Inflammatory Markers in STD/PID
The major causes of PID and STDs are microorganisms, including bacteria. When pathogens are detected in the body, cytokines and interleukins 1, 6, and 8 are secreted (Paulis, 2018). The tumor necrosis factor then propagates the inflammatory process in conjunction with Interleukin 1. The neutrophil-activating peptides are then activated by infiltration of significant tumor necrosis factor quantities into the body organs (Paulis, 2018). These body organs include those in the pelvic region. In the laboratory, inflammatory markers are tested as procalcitonin and C-reactive protein.
Prostatitis and Infection and the Causes of Systemic Reaction
Specific bacteria strains usually cause prostatitis. Infections happen when the bacteria present in the urine leak into the prostate space. When a disease is diagnosed, antibiotics are immediately diagnosed to treat it. Failure to eliminate the bacteria leads to the recurrence of prostatitis. Hence, the condition is referred to as chronic bacterial prostatitis (Archer et al., 2020). A systemic reaction is induced when bacteria spread from the urinary tract into the prostate. Both acute and chronic bacterial prostatitis proves a systemic reaction. Common STDs that ignite a systemic reaction include gonorrhea, HIV, and chlamydia. Other causatives o...
