In Russia, over 740 individuals per 100000 were reported for outpatient alcoholism treatment in Russian healthcare institutions in 2021. Additionally, Russia's drug addiction morbidity ratio was reported to be over 145 people per 100000 Russians. The financial expenses do not count the level of suffering, and the addiction pain creates for people and their close people. On the other hand, addiction affects all users, while the impacts of drug abuse impact all socioeconomic races, statuses, cultures, and ages. As a result, this paper presents a program evaluation of tackling substance use.
Young individuals who frequently abuse drug substances tend to experience a series of complications. They suffer complications such as isolation, damaged relationship, death, unsettled families, and other health-related problems like miscarriages and memory loss (Drew, 2023). Besides, they are subjected to causes undesirable consequences for their family, community, and society. Using illicit drugs has significantly contributed to declining grades due to increased absenteeism from school and other events. Moreover, they are subjected to several physical health complications due to injuries from accidents and physical disabilities and diseases.
Additionally, drug abuse makes most youths stigmatized and rejected by their peers. These kids usually do not engage in social and school activities. On the other hand, abuse of alcohol can cause family crises and jeopardize several aspects of the family, which sometimes results in family dysfunction. Drug abuse amongst juveniles also comes with several social and economic concerns. These consequences result from financial losses experienced by drug abuse crime victims and surged burden for the support of youths who cannot support themselves.
Due to these numerous personal, social, and economic consequences of drug abuse among the youths, it is essential to look for mechanisms, including community programs to fight against drug abuse such as tobacco. The World Health Organization European Working Group on Health Promotion Evaluation defined the health program evaluation as the methodical evaluation and assessment of the characteristics, which can be utilized to give information to those interested in its effectiveness (Berlowitz & Graco, 2010). The success of the intervention program will be assessed by concentrating on skills training, incorporating the community to develop a program, and disseminating the program messages. We would also measure the program's success by developing long-term programming to confirm sufficient delivery of intervention information. By evaluating these factors, we could now declare our community health program in Russia's fight against drug abuse a success.
In the fight against drug abuse in a community, involving various community stakeholders and appropriate allocation of required resources include an awareness campaign.
