According to Lou Vadlamani and Srinivas Iyengar, cardiomyopathy, also known as dilated cardiomyopathy, is one of the most dangerous cardiovascular problems. In this condition, the heart gets stretched excessively and does not pump the blood appropriately. In simple words, we can say that cardiomyopathy occurs when the heart loses its strength and power to perform all functions. The person with cardiomyopathy may have a heart failure if his treatment is significantly delayed. In the case of Mr. P, a 76-year-old man, both congestive heart failure and cardiomyopathy have impacted his life to an extent (Vadlamani & Iyengar, 2004).
He was previously hospitalized to cure the CHF symptoms and has complained about difficulties in managing his polypharmacy and maintaining his diet restrictions. It looks like Mr. P loves his meal more than his life and that he cannot stop himself from eating the food of choice. As of now, the exact frequency of cardiomyopathy cannot be determined, but nearly 600,000 new cases are reported every year across the globe. Mr. P’s treatment and recovery from the complication are possible only when he restricts himself from eating unhealthy foods.
