David Chadwick, a former basketball athlete at Valparaiso and Rice, established RealRecruit in 2014. Initially, the company was founded to help student-athletes get adequate information about specific athletic or scholarship programs in colleges and universities. However, the primary objective of RealRecruit changed when Chadwick witnessed severe problems encountered by student-athletes. They include sexual abuse, hazing, drugs, misconduct, bullying by coaches. Currently, RealRecruit assists athletic departments and university administrators in managing their culture and addressing potentially catastrophic issues that might have adverse consequences on student-athletes.
An Ethical Consideration Adopted by RealRecruit That Can Be Implemented at My Organization
In particular, RealRecruit gathers data anonymously such that decision-makers can access this information and use it to solve various problems. In that light, I would want my organization to implement a technology system like the one adopted by RealRecruit. Stakeholders, such as consumers, suppliers, and employees, should use the system to report unethical behaviors or potential problems that adversely affect the firm. Nevertheless, the most significant thing would be to keep the identity of primary informants anonymous. Cooperative stakeholders can restore a company’s brand reputation since potential issues are identified and addressed once and for all (Weitzl & Einwiller, 2020). When Chadwick started RealRecruit, he was not aware of the numerous problems faced by student-athletes silently. He realized that the best way to handle these issues was by concealing the identity of complainants and providing the information to decision-makers.
