How I Came to Love Manchester City – A Case of Sibling Influence and Peer Pressure
Growing up, I was never into soccer. Instead, I preferred to watch football, rugby, and basketball; but mainly highlights. I found soccer to be boring. A game that can end without either team scoring is a game without action. This is how I always argued for my position in sport with my adolescent friends. There was a tight race between Manchester United and Manchester City in the EPL, a tie that would go to the end of the last round of matches of the season. Out of my six friends, only one was supporting Manchester City. When I remembered that my brother was a Manchester United fanatic, I immediately declared that I am a Manchester City fan henceforth and vowed to watch the match. My friends already had plans to watch the game together at a local theater. It happened that my brother, who had just spent ...
