Case Study Airbus Students Name Institutional Affiliation Case Study Airbus Airbus is an aircraft manufacturing company which strongly believes that there is always a room for improvement in a bid to meet mist customer requirements while reducing operating costs. This can be seen through the company’s efforts in improving its A320 family of aircrafts to the A320neo which basically deploys the concept of new engine option (Solomon, Marshall, Stuart, 2018). The basic idea behind the use of the new engines is to attain a higher level of efficiency. Additionally, the modification aims at increasing the comfort of passengers by a design of Sharklets wing tips which would also results to an increased fuel efficiency. This effort is driven by the need to attain a competitive advantage over other aircraft manufactures like Boeing which produced the 737 MAX series of aircrafts. However, Airbus faces some problems in the process of putting the neo engine option concept into actual practice. Therefore, the introduction of A320neo has been accompanied by some problems which calls for Airbus to make wise decisions inorder to end the caused delay in delivery of the product. Hence the Airbus is faced with a situation which requires to choose between taking the offer of its competitors like the Boeing 737 MAX or cancel the orders of the customers which are places against the expected A320neo ("Boeing’s 737 MAX ", 2016). The dragging element behind the delay is the design problem associated with the new engines which poses a decision-making criterion for the Airbus to make the best out of the worse conditions of the engines in order to maintain the already established customer relations. The company needs to put several factors into consideration before making the final decision which may determine the fate of its products in the market (Richard Weiss, 2019).
