The Tale of Genji
The Tale of Genji was written by Murasaki Shikibu years ago, and the story takes place in Japan’s imperial city of Kyoto. The book opens with Genji and his friend in a room on a rainy day. In its second chapter (The Broom Tree), I have learned the following things.
1 Genji starts neglecting his wife, and on a rainy night, he decides to hang out with his brother-in-law Tu no Chujo.
2 Both Tuno Chujo and Genji continue discussing women; Tu no Chujo knows that Genji is trying to hide some of his juicy letters.
3 It comes as a surprise to me that Genji does not reveal the truth and keeps telling a lie about the lady who has sent him those love letters.
