A Rose for Emily
A Rose for Emily is a book written by William Faulkner published in 1930 about a young woman, Emily Grierson in a fictional city of Jefferson in the early nineties. William Faulkner begins the story with death as the main theme as a way of describing how people behave in the event of certain changes in a society; in this case, it was the southern people. In the story, Emily grew up during the Civil War with her father being the only family member. Emily her father are the two left of her clan, therefore, her father did not want her to get married, but later her father died unexpectedly which was a surprise to Emily.
Emily refuses to give up her father's corpse as she grieves of his death. Living with a back servant Tobe, Emily preferred staying in the house, especially after her father died. Later she recovered from her grief and became friendly meeting Homer Barron who came to town.
