The Smartest Kids in The World Book Review
1. Describe the key issues that Ripley’s book brings to light with regard to global education in general and some aspects of Chinese education in particular. 
Every child is entitled to a good education regardless of their family or country state. There are considerable differences among students across the globe since each country has its curriculum, which is different from the others. How one country performs is different from how the other does. Ripley notes that the American education system is not the best. Compared to the Chinese system, American students are more relaxed and do not put more effort into the Chinese. Chinese students must work hard in class, studying more than ten hours daily to make it to the university. Most of those employed in China are university graduates, which explains why students work extra hard to pass their tests and meet the university cutoff. Ripley notes that Chinese parents act as children’s coaches and not cheerleaders. The Chinese education system focuses on knowledge retention rather than improving student assuredness.
2. Evaluate to what extent Ripley’s approach and or conclusions are fair and persuasive. 
Ripley approached the education system from a more informative angle to try and solve the puzzle of education existing in different countries. She strikes a balance in her research, which creates fairness in all areas to give a comprehensive conclusion about the findings. Her approach is persuasive as it factors every area that education affects, from the students, parents, teachers, and the tests involved.
3. In your view what are the implications of her analysis for Chinese teachers/policymakers? 
The Chinese teachers are highly trained, and the policymakers usually value education, which is why they ensure those joining teaching the child have high grades. The teachers spend years studying and attending training in public schools to sharpen their capabilities improve their skills, and offer the best to students.
4. What steps could to be taken by either or both countries to improve the specific issues in question? 
The countries must adopt a more rigorous curriculum to improve education and address the issues available, giving students great experience and exposure. They should also invest more in teachers to harness their skills which will be reflected in student performance. Parents must also play a significant role as coaches to help keep their children afloat with what they learn in school.
5. What is your overall impression of the book? Who would you recommend the book to and why?
