For many years now, Saudi women's topic has drawn conflicting perspectives from different parts of the world. But as seen in Madawi Al-Rasheed's book, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is very young. It was established in 1932, and women in the kingdom did not start receiving education until the 1960s. AL-Rasheed (19) provides a compelling argument on how women have legitimized the Saudi religion to the outside world. However, this has elicited strong responses from the international community, especially in western society. It is hard to understand why a certain community would be so adamant about granting the people who constitute half of their population the freedom that other women worldwide enjoy.
