Christological debates of the Early Church
Christological debates revolve around the study of Christian theology, which examines the nature of Jesus Christ with a close focus on how his human and divine traits are related in his person. According to the three Eastern Church fathers, Jesus was God. He was in a unified relationship with both God and the Holy Spirit.
Arianism unlike Gnosticism, which denied humanity of Jesus, denied his divinity. Arius argued that Christ was the greatest creature made by God. However, the church responded to Arianism by condemning the teachings of Arius and introduced a creed that Jesus has the same qualities as God.
