Decision Theology: Decisional Regeneration

Decision theology is a belief that people must make their decision for Christ that is accepting Christ as their savior in order to be saved. According to this concept, this new birth occurs when a person listens to the gospel, gets convicted to the truth of the gospel, comprehends the essence of salvation and then prefers to acknowledge Jesus Christ instead of rejecting him. On several occasions the decision to have accepted Christ is determined by the actions taken by people, for example, praying the sinner’s prayer, walking an aisle, and singing among others. In order for a Christian to come to faith, a decision must be made. The scripture also says that human beings at their natural state are incapable of choosing Christ and that they are helpless to come to God on their own (Ephesians 2:1). Steven P. Mueller states that the decision to accept Christ can be granted on different levels of authority whereby theologians distinguish between magisterial use of reasons and ministerial use of reasons. Christianity is normally challenging because of earthly things, and people are often faced with difficulty in understanding biblical teaching. Every teaching in the scripture related to Jesus Christ.
