Despite advancements in technology and tight security across the borders of North American countries, sex trafficking remains rampant. In the United States alone, it is estimated that more than 15,000 foreigners are trafficked every year. It has also been indicated that more than 200,000 children are at risk of being trafficked and joining the sex industry. However, reporting sex trafficking cases on media outlets has been biased as it fails to provide actual statistics helpful in showing the seriousness of the crime.

The article provides the reader with crucial and graphic information about the crime. However, it fails to provide actual statistics about the number of victims affected. News reporting such as this should provide essential details that would help explain the seriousness of the issue. However, the author indicates no concrete information on the exact number of victims as not every person affected goes to the police. The author depends solely on numbers provided by the police. Further information can be found on non-governmental organizations dealing with such cases. Furthermore, the information provided by such organizations is unbiased because there are no reasons for them to hide the truth.

She indicates that she got the information from the police, which indicates that the syndicate has been operating for several years.
