Question: How have feminist scholars' studies on the welfare state and their analyses influenced research on the welfare state?
Evidence: Borchost also differentiates gender-friendly welfare states and gender equality where the feminist approach to policies and social movements challenge the dominant narratives on how best to achieve equality. In the Nordic region, the states work more closely with the feminist movements to advance feminist concerns, and feminist struggles have influenced the promotion of social democracy and welfare. There are differences in welfare states and welfare policies, but feminist paradigms have also provided new insights on welfare states. For example, feminist scholars often focus on single mothers in their analyses on welfare states and the male breadwinner role, which provides insights into how state policies influence social welfare outcomes. The states intervene in promoting social welfare, but there are differences in how they consider the place of gender in welfare states.
