You will need to find 4 articles located in scholarly journals. Scholarly journal articles are also referred as primary source peer reviewed articles. To find more information regarding utilizing the South University Library and accessing scholarly journal articles click on Library Guide. What cannot be used for this assignment are web pages, magazines, newspapers, text books, and other books. Finally, current research for our purposes is an article that was published within the last 5 to 6 years.
Remember this is a course on human development so when looking for articles make sure they are related to the subject matter covered in the course. To help in your search here are some of the major areas we covered in this course (these are meant as a guide, not specific topics to find).
Major developmental theories across the lifespan
Nature of geographic, gender, social, cognitive, emotional, and developmental factors during each period of development
Developmental factors that impact one another.
Historical and current trends in development
Current trends which may differentially impact the future development of populations in the United States
Social, and diversity issues related to developmental psychology
With the major areas above in mind, focus on at least two of the following age groups:
Childhood
Adolescence
Adulthood
Older Adults
First, give an overview of each article, including:
Write a 2-paragraph summary for each article.
Write a 1-2 paragraph analysis and evaluation for each article found.
Make sure to integrate course material in that analysis
Then, write a summary (1-2 pages) integrating what was leaned from the articles reviewed on the chosen age groups as seen from the life-span perspective. Cover the following in that summary:
What similarities did you find in the types of research and what was being studied? What differences did you find?
Basd on your course readings, what developmental theories did you find that were applicable?
Explain how the life-span perspective may provide a way of better understanding the research reviewed.

Article Review: Childhood and Adolescence Transition
Article Review
The first article by McElroy et al. (2018) addresses developmental stability in childhood and adolescence. The article compares p-differentiation and dynamic mutualism as the two major factors determining the change of patterns in the development process. Besides, the article examines development stability between 14 and 2 years, including strength and phenotypic stability.
The key result of the article is that there are constant bifactor models in the developmental period. There is also consistency in the ECV values across the life period (McElroy et al., 2018). Lastly, heterotypic and homotypic continues are evident across the period.
Analytically the article is effective since it addresses the major development factors in childhood and adolescence. It is also clear that bifactor models and continuity determine the success of the development. Therefore, the article is effective since it comprehensively incorporates all the development stability requirements which shape children's future.
The second article by Britto et al. (2016) focuses on enhancing childhood development. The article focuses on the external environment and SDGs for promoting childhood development. The article aims at escalating the interventions to improve childhood development. The article suggests families, caregivers, and parents need support for nurturing childhood development.
The article highlight that external factors influence childhood development. The factors include nutritional deficiencies and exposure to violence (Britto et al., 2017). The article concludes that anxiety and depression interfere with child development.
Analyzing the article, it is true that external factors adequately determine the development process. The article is also effective since it provides evidence of poor development caused by anxiety and depression. The two factors affect cognitive stability during the development period.
The third article by LeMoult et al. (2020) also examines the external factors affecting development in childhood and adolescence. The article notes that early life stress is a major threat to successful development in childhood and adolescence. Children and adolescents who go through the identified factors suffer major depressive order in the future.
The researchers conducted scientific database research among individuals less than 18 years. The researchers found that 30% of those exposed to life stress experienced MMD in the future (LeMoult et al., 2020). The key ELS is emotional abuse and poverty.
The article is reliable and valid regarding analysis and evaluation since it provides researched evidence of ELS. The article also conforms to the human development principle that development is continuous and thus influenced by external forces. The artic...
