The Article, Green Human Resource Management Practice in Bangladesh Readymade Garments Industries, was written by Azad et al. (2022). The authors present a significant business concept integrating green human resource management (GHRM). The latter can be defined as a set of systems, practices, or policies that stimulate a company’s behaviors to create socially and environmentally sensitive workplaces (Mostafa & Klepper, 2017). GHRM is imperative as a sustainability approach in fast-growing industries and successful organizations to address climate change challenges and increasing threats to the world. The focus of this paper is to analyze and critique the article.
Summary
According to Azad et al. (2022), GHRM is not common in Bangladesh’s industrial sectors dealing with ready-made garments (RMG). Instead, only a few factories have integrated the practice and earned international recognition. Using a quantitative analytical approach, the authors selected ten garment industries in Bangladesh to research the application of GHRM. The authors note that since there are few factories that have implemented the GHRM, if other factories will follow the same trend, they will achieve sustainable development (Uddin, 2018). Researchers used random sampling methods to select garment representatives and factories. Studies revealed significant obstacles to the full integration of green HRM, including lack of organizational support, turnover rate, and cost of practice. The authors suggested implementing the right policies, supervision, and training programs to integrate GHRM. This research is important in the current society because it paves way for developed GHRM techniques.
