Sample Characteristics and Sample Criteria
There are several aspects in the sample characteristics, which were not fully described. The study only described the mean age of respondents leaving important aspects such as gender, general health condition of the patient, part of the body infected as well as blood group. Given that the parameters that were not taken into account were important, making of inferences from the description of the sample would be grossly inadequate. Sampling criteria was somehow appropriate and therefore it can be concluded that it was largely a representative of the population. The study indicates that the patients were assessed for eligibility and clearly specifies the assessment criteria.
Sample Delimitation and Sample Selection
Interventions undertaken were well set out as a means of sample delimitation. For instance, similar protocols of skin preparation were applied for the selected sample. Delimiting of the sample ensured consistency in the results of the study. Given the nature of the sampling technique, it is possible to obtain a replica of the sample population. The sample was selected following a well laid down criterion however, this method of sample selection was inappropriate, as it did not take into account gender differences of the respondents.
