The play, Mary Poppins is about the Bank family's story where they are entitled children who have compelled the family to employ many nannies who can handle the household roles and monitor children. The inciting part of the play is when the children choose who they think should be their nanny yet the choice is different from the parents' intention and the father’s diction, in particular, is very clear about the choice the nanny he wants to look after his kids. The major incident of conflict in the performance was when another nanny was sent packing and the main character, Mary Poppins, appears. The climactic incident in the play is the emergence of magical Mary Poppins in the Bank’s house. The denouement of the play is when the main character transforms the entitled children and gives hope to the Bank’s family.

Mary Poppins is the protagonist in the play because the play is named after her, she has managed to change other characters such as Banks and her actions made the play take a new turn. An antagonist in the play is Banks, who struggles against the main character and threatens to fire her yet she is doing an excellent job to transform her children.
